What students said

Valentine Daniel · 2013 · 2013

Take home midterm and finals; three of five 1-6 page papers over the course of the semester

Kelvin Ng · 2026 · 2026

So much reading. 100 pages from one class to another. Hours invested if you wanted do all of the reading. Notes on essays were too long to read, as if we were going to turn in the papers after editing. Emails after classes covering everything he couldn't get to in class (which showed how much he cared, but also his lack of understanding in terms of how much students were in other classes with heavy workloads). Unreasonable amount of reading.

Beau Shaw · 2015 · 2015

See above. Weekly response papers of 2/3 pages. Two 8/12 page papers. Midterm and final are straightforward.

Sjoukje Van der meulen · 2007 · 2007

Papers are way too long, but you can get away with not doing the reading. Midterm was crazy. Final was reasonable.

Nicole Callahan · 2019 · 2019

what everyone else said. midterm's easy. final is stressful AF.

Michael Teitelman · 2005 · 2005

aside from the reading, not bad. 2 4-6 page papers; we got the paper topics for the midterm the night before, making it very wasy. The final was a bit more challenging but still not impossible. The grading is very fair and office hours are also very useful.

Alheli Alvarado-Diaz · 2015 · 2015

Light. However, as a previous reviewer mentioned, there is a "lot of thinking if you're up for it."

Tiger Roholt · 2005 · 2005

2 papers, midterm final, annoying response question thingies.

Daniel Cordes · 2004 · 2004

OMG this man is insane. I checked the directory of classes and only 12 people are left. That means 10 people dropped out. Beware.

Andrew Hall · 2009 · 2009

350 word posts before every class (don't have to do all of them and will get extra credit if you do) Class Participation (same with the posts) Two essays (he gives you the questions and a lot of time) Midterm and Final (He gives you the questions on both and he picks some from the sheet and puts them on the test)
