Everything first semester Pchem is supposed to cover.
This course is very difficult and highly work intensive. The information is only of use to you if you enjoy physics very much or if you enjoy suffering.
The material is interesting, but take the course with a different professor.
If it is a required class, I would recommend it. 1st, 2nd, 3rd law of thermodynamics. Solutions, Gibbs free energy, Helmholtz energy, Boltzmann distribution, equilibrium. Molecular dynamics and scattering for 2 lectures

All of the math to prove everything in gen chem.
It’s required for everyone who takes this so you don’t really get an option. If you happen to be a chemical physics major like me though, try to get out of this class by taking statistical/thermal physics instead. It’s much more fundamental than this class
I would not advise anyone to take this class unless it is required. Even then I am not sure why it is a requirement.
The material is irrelevant to most biology or biochemistry majors. Beyond this, the math prerequisite for the course extents heavily past what is currently listed as. Finally, the material itself is taught in a poor manner where most of the important math or core knowledge is glossed over. This makes the course a mostly self-study course with no meaningful applications.
