I learnt how to critically analyze and understand chemical reactions, this in turn makes chemistry more fun to me!
I learned a great deal about predicting reactivity in organic molecules using principles of physical chemistry. This class was a very interesting deeper dive into many of the concepts that were simply taught in sophomore organic chemistry.
Various physical organic principals and their connections to organic synthesis, methods of mechanistic elucidation, and conformational analysis.
How to visualise orbitals and stereoelectronic interaction that can dictate the course of a reaction.
I learned more in depth information about organic chemistry from the perspective of a physical chemist. The topics covered in the course gives me a more broad foundation that will allow me to answer questions from undergraduate organic chemistry students. Learning more about classical experiments and case studies that broadened the field of organic chemistry was also useful.
Truthfully not much. It was taught very poorly. I basically learned everything in synthetic methods and was able to apply them here but I did not really learn in this course.
