This course deepened my understanding of Catalan grammar and sentence structures but also offered a space for conversation and practice speech.
My Catalan improved significantly. I feel like I have achieved a new degree of fluency in speech which is very exciting.
-Vocabulary: conjunctions, adjectives to describe a period of time, words related to the news, biographical vocabulary, words related to the past tense, descriptions of appearance (disease and pain), medical vocabulary and parts of the body -Grammar (verb tenses): Preterite, Preterite Perfect, structure for reactions/expressions of value, pronouns, Future, Preterite Imperfect, Commands, a bit of Present Subjunctive, Coniditional, giving advice -Phoenetics/Orthography -General speaking and conversational skills
Take Catalan, it is the best decision you will make.

This is one of the best classes offered at Columbia. Expanding on information learned in Comprehensive Beginning, this class seamlessly weaves all of the information in a very thorough yet applicable way. I will never stop recommending this class
I was able to really delve into Catalan grammar and gain more confidence in my speaking and writing skills. I now feel as though I could carry a casual conversation with little to no mistakes and can write and read with much higher fluency.
