Sem- Contemp Physics/astronomy · Physics
I mean, Hailey tried his best to teach me about like, black holes and particle physics. Pretty sure I retained none of it though.
The course was extremely interesting and it was especially designed to be interesting for the general public. I learned a lot about black holes, the standard model and the beyond standard model particles. Furthermore, this course is not only a great way to see how research is conducted, but also a great complement to the introductory physics sequence.
I gained a more rigorous understanding of astro- and particle physics, as well as an insight into what being a scientist is really like.
overview of interesting problems in physics, those that we want to learn but we would learn only after 3+ years of physics.
learned about black holes, Professor Hailey's projects/experiments, quantum mechanics, the logistics of how these kind of experiments/research happen
the physics required to understand prof Hailey's dark matter detection experiment to an accessible level
Fantastic topics, incredibly interesting for anyone with any interest in physics or astrophysics.
Recommend for anybody interested in Physics / Applied Physics / Astrophysics !!!
Ask as many questions as you can. This course is an absolute joy and I would strongly recommend making the most of it.
The course is well-taught and low-stress.
