Though I had taken the nineteenth century art course in the past I still learnt a lot in this course. The course has a very clear theme, the problematic nature of the category of history painting, and some of the developments and boundaries of this genre of painting in the nineteenth century.
I learned a lot about art history in general and the ability to analyze art.
very good class if you like the painting medium, specifically, the larger history paintings by well-known artists like David, Manet, and Ingres.
