We learned about a history of photography. The class does a wonderful job of covering the large and unique history of photography and Professor Elcott's knowledge and experience in the field really helps him articulate the concepts and ideas that connect each transition of the history.

In this course, I learned how to see photography differently. The wide range of topics and concepts we discussed really opened my mind to what photography can be and mean.
This class was very different from art history lectures I have taken. It is much more grounded in the readings than I have previously experienced, but I believe I gained many skills in reading art historical texts and understanding how to apply them to the artworks presented in class.

I would absolutely recommend the class, but the pacing and lecture style is something to get adjusted to.
