I learned pinyin, how to read and write traditional characters, and selected vocabulary and grammatical structures.

Over this semester, I've seen my skills in reading, writing, and speaking Chinese grow -- from not knowing how to do any of these things at the beginning of the year, I've seen a tremendous learning curve in my Mandarin skills, and I've come to respect the time and process it takes to learn and study Chinese characters.

Tianqi Jiang is a great professor and really cares about her students. Her workload is a lot but the way she approaches teaching greatly helped me into staying committed throughout the semester.

Really so so much - the basis of reading and writing Chinese

I highly recommend this class if you'd like an intensive language learning experience that challenges you, but greatly rewards you by having you go from no knowledge of Mandarin to being able to understand and hold basic conversation within a matter of months.
