Through the labs, I was able to put climate concepts to practice. Most labs have a hands on portion, which is typically focused on modeling a concept, and computer section, which focuses on data related to concepts from class. No previous lab experience is necessary but previous excel knowledge is very helpful for making graphs.
I learned a lot about climate systems from both ocean and air perspective.
The best, most important skill, I learned from this class was how to look at a world map and break it down into smaller bite sizes to analyse. For example, sectioning the world into areas based on temperature, such as the tropics vs the polar region, was really important.
In depth understanding of the climate system, biosphere, cryosphere, atmosphere, ocean system. Detailed processes about air circulation, wind and ocean currents. Balance of biology, chemistry and earth physics. Discussion of anthropogenic climate change, climate predictions, and modeling.
I learned about how the atmosphere and ocean interact with each other. The class ended with an overview of climate change and its impact on the future. I also learned about writing a lab report.
I learned about climate systems and the physical ways they function as well as the implications of these systems for Earths energy balance. We also learned about the impact of anthropogenic climate change on these systems.
Origin and development of the atmosphere and oceans, formation of winds, storms and ocean currents, reasons for changes through geologic time. Recent influence of human activity: the ozone hole, global warming, water pollution.

I learned so much in this course. The breadth of this course was huge. I also learned more about different perspectives in terms of completing labs.
