Introduction to the Wolof language -- a very immersive and thorough descriptive-linguistic approach. Cultural and grammatical knowledge grow together, naturally, hand in hand. Excellent preparation of learning materials and Voicethread projects.
We reviewed fluency and grammar and worked to improve our oral skills. We had units on illness, seasons, travel and giving directions.
This course focused on developing reading, writing, and listening skills; building vocabulary; complex constructions; and revisiting/reviewing grammatical concepts covered in Intermediate Wolof. Our work included literary texts, news articles, traditional tales, as well as poetry and film.
Basic introductions and greetings, expressing family relations, likes/dislikes, basic synatx, time and activity schedules, locative phrases, various points of Senegalese culture
I learned a lot about the language and culture and how to communicate basic phrases to hold conversations.
