I learned about the late Ming, and early-late Qing dynasties in imperial China, from 1600 to the early 1900s. We learned about famous wars, famous emperors, famous movements, famous rebellions, and everything else in between. We also looked at art and scholarship from this period.

Lots of historiographical debates about the history of modern china that you wouldn't get in a 1-2000 level class.

Some stuff about the Qing dynasty. The professor is great but the course is rather boring unless you have a particular interest in Qing China.

The professor gives lots of feedback on writing assignments and helps direct studying for the final exam.

It is an extremely boring course. Unless you are really interested in Qing history, I would pick a separate course with Professor Fong.

It is an extremely comprehensive course that covers the Qing dynasty to the finest detail. While the level of depth it covers is very admirable, the course load in terms of weekly readings is quite hefty, and a large commitment.
