What students said

BIOL GU4323 · Fall 2024

I learned a lot of experimental methods and some statistical analysis methods for proper biophysical characterization of proteins and polymers.

CHEM GR9201 · Fall 2023

Non-optional review of STAT week; sadly it repeats most of it without going in greater depth.

BIOL GU4323 · Fall 2024

I learned a lot about the thermodynamic forces that inform protein folding

CHEM GR9201 · Fall 2023

I learned what different faculty members are working on and appreciated some insightful discussions on teaching philosophy/techniques to engage students.

BIOL GU4323 · Fall 2024

I really learned a lot in this course. Probably my favorite course I have ever taken. First time I have really understood some of the physical components (thermodynamics, kinetics, etc.). I also learned a lot about how to present a paper.

BIOL GU4323 · Fall 2024

Very fun course and I like the small class size

BIOL GU4323 · Fall 2024

No exams, so good alternative to pchem if you want that. Do not take it if you actually want to learn something or come away with something meaningful.

BIOL GU4323 · Fall 2024

I think this class is so important if you are looking to pursue graduate education this course provides a good baselien (undergrad perspective). I think john hunt is definetly an interesting charcter, but i really think his way of approaching topics and explaining them is very effective. The problems sets took me a while, but were extremely rewarding to actually learn the material. You can not just look up the answers (he writes them), so there is a certain integrity where you must commit the time and apply your knowledge. Art palmer is a bit harder in terms of material, but again i think his approach and some of his thoght experiemnts help to make it easier to understand. I also learned how to just raise my hand and try to answer the question (even if I was wrong). if you dont put yourslef out there in this class you wont get the full effect. If you are looking for a no-brainer lecture class, this is not the course for you.

BIOL GU4323 · Fall 2024

Thermodynamics, hydrodynamics and a bit of statistics

BIOL GU4323 · Fall 2024

Cooperativity, enzyme binding, protein structure, applications of thermodynamics in biology; got some practice using PRISM and pymol
