What students said

BUS I3003 · Fall 2022

4 psets (only 3 graded) 4-5 cases (similar to psets but a little more extensive, but these are group submissions) 1 exam - final, worth 50% of your grade (a little risky due to the weight but he doesn't make it a mystery what the final will be - just pay attention in class when he talks about it)

BUS I3003 · Fall 2022

I was a little hesitant when I signed up for this section because there was no professor listed and I had shopped Tri before (not my style), but I was more than relieved by the second class session when it became clear that the Prof Segram cares a lot this class and about us as students - he asks and remembers people's names, and always checks in class to make sure we are following what he is saying. Prof has also been lenient with extending deadlines for certain assignments when enough people in the class reach out, and even at the very beginning of the semester, he reduced the number of total assignments (one less pset and one less case) to make sure we weren't just bogged down with work for the whole semester, but rather actually learning. The prof and TAs are also both relatively responsive to questions via email and has hosted impromptu office hours to help us with assignments like our cases.

ECON GU4280 · Spring 2025

I learn how to create out a full-blown valuation in finance. This is a skill that I know will serve me well in my career later on. I also learned what makes a good business.

BUS I3003 · Fall 2022

4 cases 4 problem sets final - 50% of grade

ECON GU4280 · Spring 2025

I learned a lot about the application of financial concepts to real world situations through case studies. This was very nice because I was able to further my finance knowledge, which would be helpful in later classes such as accounting and economics electives.

BUS I3003 · Fall 2022

Ehh this is class was whatever. Haran cared about us but he's just not that good of a teacher. Don't take this class if you have never used excel because he won't teach you (his TA will though) but all psets, cases, and exams (100% of your grade, that is) will be based on excel. This class doesn't weigh on you in the semester and is probably the easier section to be in so take it if you want to do Corporate Finance but want to mainly self-study his PowerPoints.

ECON GU4280 · Spring 2025

I learned the in and outs of case study valuations.

ECON GU4280 · Spring 2025

Fundamentals of Corporate Finance: particularly useful while preparing for IB interviews.

ECON GU4280 · Spring 2025

Both the equations and methodology for conducting FCF Valuations. Used excel extensively throughout assignments.

ECON GU4280 · Spring 2025

Introduction to DCF analysis and valuation: discounting and projecting cash flows, calculating cost of capital, estimating optimal capital structure
