Gisela was a great and engaging professor who was always engaged during office hours, classes and labs. She has well-structured slides and is easy to follow during lecture, and she's overall just a great person. Gisela taught the second half of the climate systems class (after Mingfang Ting).

I learned about how the ocean and atmosphere interact to create climate systems, how ocean circulation works, and the carbon cycle.
The foundation of earth's climate system
It is hard for me to recall what I learned in this course because of the volume of material. I feel that the course lost big picture and instead focused on minutia that was rarely related to the big picture.
This class goes through (in detail) the feedback loops in the climate system, the chemistry and physics behind the water cycle, ice dynamics, weather, global ocean processes, wind and storms etc. The class explains different weather processes and how to predict certain climate outcomes based on position on earth and certain data.
Components and cycles of the atmosphere and oceans. Lab report writeup and short presentation skills.
I learned about the environmental system of the Earth.
We learned about the several climate systems at play and how they intersect and work with one another to support ecological processes. Ocean circulation, pollution in the atmosphere, and carbon/water cycles were some of the many topics we talked about.
