Idk what the negative reviewers were on lmao but bhat is genuinely a chill prof and answers questions without being condescending. he understands the material and always provides decent answers to questions (including ones i had), despite having a thick accent. grading is fair, workload is fair, exams were fair. overall a solid class.

Found his lectures and notes to be pretty clear overall. However, it's still necessary to self study from the textbook once the material gets more complicated. Professor is very patient, often responding (very quickly) to many repeated questions on Ed. Pretty approachable and personally didn't feel he was mean or rude as other reviews have been saying.

Ten homework assignments (30 mins-1 hour) graded on accuracy; two midterms, one final, final can replace the lower midterm score; 6% EC.

Very straight to the point and is productive during class. Uses class time to explain concepts shown in homework and exercises. Practice exercises and exams are super helpful in studying for midterms and final. Definitely easier if you’ve taken a Calc III class in high school as it’s explained fast. I used exercises, practice exams, lecture notes, and attending lectures to prepare and succeeded in the class. Also gives 6% of EC thru surveys- I would recommend, but definitely more helpful to know some content beforehand.

Weekly workload is 1-3 hours working on the homework and 1-3 hours reviewing practice exercises and lecture notes. I probably spent about 20 hours reviewing for each of the midterms and 30 hours for the final. 20% Homework, 25% Midterm 1, 25% Midterm 2, 30% Final Exam. Your final exam score can replace your lowest midterm if it is higher. There is also a 6% extra credit boost applied after the curve, which is a big helper.

I want to preface this review by sharing that I got an A in the course. Professor Bhat is the worst possible instructor that someone could have for this class. He is an awful teacher, his exams are considerably harder than other sections, and his lecture notes are illegible and confusing. He is also rude. He assumes that students know how to do all the steps of new topics they have never seen before and he skips many crucial steps in his solutions. The lecture notes use difficult handwriting and contain information that is both abstract and hard to grasp. During class, it is very difficult to understand each of his points and hard to follow how to actually approach problems because he skips steps. He is also rude and vague--if you ask a question during class, he assumes that the answer is just obvious and tells you to look at the board. It took almost the entire semester for him to be transparent about grades since people kept asking. The best part of this class is the grading scheme. I was initially very worried but then saw how it works out. He offers 6% extra credit that is applied after the curve (which brings the median grade to a B+). The exam averages are very low and he exams are difficult, so there is a solid curve. Professor Bhat is also extremely organized and quick with posting grades, homework solutions, exam feedback, and more.
