I learned so much new knowledge throughout my time in this course! Going in to this class, I could not even define "justice" or what it means to create justice. Now, I have gained a new perspective regarding race/ethnicity, psychological frameworks, current events, injustice/justice, and more. I also honed my writing, analysis, and critical thinking skills as an academic and researcher. I am beyond glad that I took this course, and will carry the knowledge I have acquired throughout the rest of my studies within CSER, psychology, and at Columbia and beyond.

Perspectives on Justice in psychology and applications to policy in the real world.

lots of real life examples of how justice operates and personal persdpectives

We focused mainly on research and policy mainly related to issue and disparities in the justice system. This class is especially unique as there is a wide variety of students from many backgrounds, and everyone's unique expertise and experience helps drive the conversations in class,. The conversations are really driven by the interests of the students We also had an opportunity to meet and hear from professionals who work directly in these fields (including lawyers, policy makers, community organizers, educators etc.)

a lot of concrete methods to push on social works

This is an incredible course. I recommend this highly to anyone who is interested in societal issues and learning about ways to improve our society. It is also a great course for anyone interested in making connections with people outside of their main area of interest. This class provides wonderful opportunities for interdisciplinary connections, which is really unique. It is an awesome class and I could not recommend it enough. If you're interested in issues of justice in any capacity, this class is a must take!
