What students said

Charles Riemann · 2026 · 2026

This course was a challenge; I felt that I had too little direction from the core team and by the time I realized that the core team was being unresponsive, I felt like I had to frantically do a lot of work to help us catch up.

How to apply skills I learnt in other courses to apply to a consulting project

Gregory Kossinets · 2025 · 2025

I learn how to utilize machine learning to build a cloud burst prediction model. We start from collecting data, cleaning and processing our data, and we also tried varied model, and present our finding.

Charles Riemann · 2026 · 2026

The greatest skill/perspective gained from this course was putting in practice much of what I'd learned in theory or with toy examples in other classes. It gave some insight into the true process of data-based projects, including gathering and cleaning data and deciding what to do with the data. I gained few coding aspects as they became necessary, but the value was more in experience than skills gained.

Charlie Riemann · 2023 · 2023

practical data analysis skills, presentation skills, team work skills, technical communication skills

Gregory Kossinets · 2025 · 2025

Since this course is the first practicum course that aim to predict cloud burst with machine learning. I think we can save some valuable data processing approaches, varied machine learnings' results, and our presentation so that next semester new student can utilize our progress and approaches. Although our prediction accuracy, recall, and precision is not good enough, with our findings in this semester, next semester student absolutely can make a better model.

Charles Riemann · 2026 · 2026

I learned about network analysis and data visualization.

Charles Riemann · 2026 · 2026

Building network models, some NLP techniques, practicing client engagement and team management

Charles Riemann · 2026 · 2026

If the course focused a little bit more on giving directions for both Core and Support teams, I would recommend this course to someone. However, as it is this course feels a little to vague to recommend.

Charles Riemann · 2026 · 2026

If the project and organization were one of interest to the person, I might recommend it. However, I would issue a general caution about my experience with non- participation by classmates.
