Readings that you never have to do as long as someone else in the class does them. A small presentation about a terrorist group mid-semester, but that's not a big deal. Classic 25-page term paper on something related to terrorism.
Weekly discussion posts (2-3 questions from the readings), 3 short response papers (1 due before week 6 of the course, other 2 can be submitted any time), short prospectus for the final paper, final paper is 10-12 page research proposal. Quite a bit of reading, you read 3-4 pretty dense research papers, but have a whole week to do them and write your discussion questions. Unfortunately, doing the reading does really help your ability to understand and dissect scholarly research throughout the semester.
Very light. Readings for the first half of the semester, then presentations for the second half. 1 30-35 page paper, 1 paper prospectus, and a final in-class essay( a bit annoying, but not that bad) .
25 page term paper, weekly emails about the readings, presentation on research for paper, 150-300 pages of reading per week (but for only 10 weeks, the last four weeks are dedicated to the presentations)
Workload: Reading - ranges from 100+ pages to a book a week; Four 5 page response papers on the readings (spread over the semester); One final 20 page paper The workload was kind of heavy, but manageable. I thought the class was worth the reading and all the papers.
Two 6 to 8 page response papers, an in-class presentation (with another student or in a small group), weekly readings (approximately 250 pages/week), option between doing a take-home final exam (answer two essay questions) or write a final paper (length of approximately 15 to 20 pages)
Obnoxious small 4-5 page papers throughout the semester that you think are just for fun, then come back with letter grades on them. 15-25 page research paper.
A somewhat lengthy take-home midterm (10 IDs and 6-7 page essay), a backgrounder memorandum on a terrorist group, and a final (10 IDs, 10 T/F, 2 essays).
You have to write 1-2 pages for every class, so you have to do the reading you're assigned.
