One of my easier classes. 15% midterm, 35% final, with a final project that took me a day or two and 6 homeworks that don't take more than a few hours at absolute most. Start early to get the most out of his class, though I always started the hw less than two hours before and scored near perfect on all of them, so if you're taking a harder class and need to focus on that this one shouldn't be too much to add on.
6 Homeworks, 1 Semester project, 1 midterm, 1 final
Patient, clear, interesting. I don't usually write reviews but he far exceeded my expectations (Fall 2023) I had programming experience before so I was able to get an A+, but even without I think an A is highly attainable as long as you're proactive and precise.
This guy is legitimately awful. Run. He doesn't really teach at all, he just stands at the front of the classroom fumbling around for an hour and fifteen minutes trying to make really lame jokes. The only thing I learned in this class is how to use a plug-in for google docs to use ChatGPT in it because even though he says on his syllabus that you can google things during exams, he fully lied, and we could not, so I used said plug-in to answer all my questions. From what I've heard from other sections, you could fully google things and use ChatGPT, so maybe go for them.
Fair workload. 15% midterm, 20% project, 5% participation, 25% homework, 35% final
Wonderful Professor! Very engaging and clear presentation in class. Usually hosts extra OH for students and really patient. Highly recommend!
Yi Zhang is an excellent professor! Loved this course, well taught and all assignments were fairly graded and he was never shy about giving extensions and we already had late days. After this course, I found myself super interested in data science as a future career :)
