What students said

George Dragomir · 2026 · 2026

Excellent course on linear algebra and probability

Evan Sorensen · 2026 · 2026

I was able to significantly strengthen my linear algebra and probability skills and more so from an applications pov.

Tommaso Botta · 2026 · 2026

Midterm, Final, and Project. Final and midterm were worth like 80% of your grade total.

Jorge Pineiro Barcelo · 2025 · 2025

As I said above, everything is taught that will be on tests and homework. You may NEED to go to office hours and if you do so, and take time on everything, you will do well. The homework is reasonable, not light, but not unfair. Same with the tests, very very fair. Its a hard math class, it has real work, but again, its all fair and he is readily available to help and appease.

George Dragomir · 2026 · 2026

Great introduction to linear algebra and probability

Evan Sorensen · 2026 · 2026

Important linear algebra and probability concepts.

Tommaso Botta · 2026 · 2026

I hate to leave a negative review because he is a really nice guy, but he just was not very good at explaining the concepts. I think he just was not very interested in the material, and therefore just didn't put much effort into teaching.

Jorge Pineiro Barcelo · 2025 · 2025

I would recommend Professor Pineiro a million times! He is a great teacher and truly cares about his students' education and success. He teaches concepts thoroughly and prepares us to dive deeper into the topics on the homework. Although it is not an easy course and sometimes not obvious at first how to apply the concepts, Professor Pineiro gives examples that are really applicable to tests and lets you bring in any material. Everything on the tests are in some way taught on lecture and homework and truly if you study the course material, you can absolutely succeed. Not quite an easy A, but definitely a doable A and doable material with his excellent teaching style. Also note that he is extremely willing to answer questions and redo problems so don't hesitate to speak up.

George Dragomir · 2026 · 2026

linear algebra and basic probability theory

Evan Sorensen · 2026 · 2026

This is a hard math class. The grading for exams is strict, the exam room is very nerve wrecking because of all the rules imposed on you. We write different tests separated by colors of the books, I am not sure how fair that is. The questions are heavy of definitions and proofs and no actual calcualtion and even calculators are allowed.
