Quite a bit of work (weekly problem sets are pretty substantial), but all take home and well worth it

I dont know actually. Did not understand much from lectures. She made some of them online. Hard to understand in class as well. People stopped showing up after the 1-2 classes. Unclear grading been 2 months since midterm 2. No grades given yet. Although everything is take home if you want to recruit and want to spend at least 5-7 hours on excel then this is a great class. Not an easy A but do able pretty standard

I was a bit worried going into the class because as far as I knew this was his first time teaching the course (the usual professor dropped out last minute) but whether he put his on spin on it or just went directly from the previous professor's material, I think he did a great job. He understood that the majority of the class were entirely new to the subject and went at a good pace through each topic. He also really tried to make sure we understood how to do everything from classify different events on the balance sheet to analyze a company through lots of examples in class and extremely relevant homework. I loved his teaching style and I think the content of the course was well done and fit all the most important bits into it, considering it's an intro course. I'm not personally recruiting for investment banking but it was a great introduction to the world and language of finance and cemented my interest in the field. What you do in class is what you will probably do (to some extent) as an analyst. I've also heard from alumni that this class was more helpful and representative than any other undergraduate finance class so make of that what you will.

No exams, only problem sets and projects. The final project took me literally 50 hours to complete. For accounting every single number has to be correct so I would get lots of points off on all the homework.

I don't know why this class has so many positive reviews because I hated it. I'm a CS major and this class taught me I am completely uninterested in accounting and finance. All the homework was so tedious and confusing.

There were 8 homework assignments. Each one took me at least 2-3 hours. Each midterm took me 10+ hours and the final took me 15+ hours to complete. Possible to get a 100 on each assignment, and people did, but you have to teach yourself parts of it or make time for office hours.

I expected this class to be a challenge, and it was. Each lecture is recorded, so most people did not show up to class. The course started quite manageable, but the rigor picked up quickly. There was a weekly homework assignment, and each one was like a mini-project done in excel. The first half of the course is about accounting, and the second half is about finance (valuation, DCF, enterprise vs equity value, etc.). This is a good course to take if you want to work in investment banking and are preparing for technical interviews. The workload is quite heavy -- 8 take-home assignments, 2 midterms, and a final project. I found that a lot of it was teaching myself because the lecture examples did not always match up with the homework assignments.

A great class! If you're recruiting / preparing for technicals, I definitely would recommend taking this class to learn accounting and help you prepare. Her classes were recorded, and all projects + midterm + final was take-home, so the class average was extremely high. Her homeworks do take a lot of time as you progress through the semester (especially when balancing the balance sheet becomes aggravating), but everything is definitely manageable - the TAs are super nice and helpful with the homeworks! Definitely would recommend this class (only thing to keep in mind is that class average is high so might be curved down)
