HRTS GR6020

I thin the course is very well-designed to provide an overall overview of universal human rights. It covers various rights and discusses various historical cases and legal regime for protecting rights.

I learned key foundational aspects about the human rights field, especially information about the UN and international treaties.

The professor outlined this course in terms of challenges to human rights, which I deeply appreciated. I think there is strong value in critiquing a discipline in order to strengthen it. Broadly, we covered the problems with: the diversity in foundations of human rights, the flaws in the liberal framework of human rights (neutrality, state-centeredness, resistance to group rights, and formalism, and the rise of liberalism.

different dilemma and challenges in the human rights regime (i.e. group rights vs. individual rights, international human rights regime and the private sphere, diverse foundations of human rights, etc.)

The course provides good set of general information about human rights.

A LOT about human rights. I think its well designed for an intro course.

I learned to think critcallly about human rights and human rights discourse.

I've learned a lot about different human rights issues across the world that helped development my knowledge of human rights theory and frameworks.

This course was quite broad and felt general at times but overall provided a great overview of different topics in human rights. I liked the structure of the course and do feel like I learned a lot of important foundational material about human rights.
