This class has a reputation for being difficult, and it really lived up to the reputation. Prof. Youngren is a really nice guy, but he just talks so fast and some of the important things he says out loud aren't on the slides and I feel like he assumes we know more stuff than I actually do, which made for extremely extremely confusing lectures. I legit stopped attending lectures and just started studying the lecture notes and recitation problems. However, the grading for exams is really really lenient, which I really appreciated. The PSETs were also extremely hard so I went to the help room every week (Afifia was amazing!).

Every SEAS undergrad student has to take this course. It's a good course, but don't take it unless you have to. You learn the core concepts from most college's calc 3 and 4 courses. These include vectors, planes, partial derivatives and gradients, multivariable optimization and Lagrange multipliers, multiple integration, path/line integrals, vector fields, The Fundamental Theorem of Line Integrals, Green's Theorem, Stoke's Theorem, and Divergence Theorem. I took this course in Fall 2022, but I heard that since then, Drew built a software that helps visualize each of the concepts he teaches with accompanying lecture notes, which would have been incredibly helpful when I took the class.
Homework - The homework is quite difficult with weekly problem sets with about 5 questions that take around 5-10 hours. Quizzes - Biweekly quizzes which are super short and easy mainly as a way to just test the concept Midterms(2x) - Midterms are significantly easier than the homework, very doable in the timeframe. Final - Barely longer than a midterm with similar difficulty
Professor Youngren is a passionate, energetic, and overall excellent teacher. His lectures are never dull, and he explains concepts in a way that allows you to theoretically and spatially understand why everything is true. Professor Youngren uses his personally developed modeling software called 3Demos to visually represent the curves, and it is a great tool to use to understand the concepts. His slides are very well made, interactive, and do a great job in teaching concepts. Overall, Professor Youngren is amazing and will teach you so much throughout the semester.

Drew Youngren is incredible!! His lecture are interesting, funny and sometimes beautiful. He has so many incredible tools for visualization and analogies to help understand complex topics. 3Demos (the 3D modeling software he created) is an awesome tool (definitely use it for homework). Youngren's homeworks are challenging but fair and he's available in office hours (on top of tons of CA help rooms throughout the week) and his tests and quizzes are very fair. There are tons of resources on courseworks and the timeline and grading of the class are clearly layed out. I honestly have no complaints with this course, wish Youngren taught more classes!!

Professor Youngren is absolutely amazing. He is clearly so passionate about teaching, which is apparent in his lectures. He explains topics very well and makes the math topics pretty interesting. He does a great job at incorporating his graphing tool into his lectures which helps explain the concepts in 3D. He is legitimately one of the best lecturers I've ever had and is really, really good at teaching.
