We read a variety of important East Asian texts from as far back as Confucius' Analects. We studied philosophical thought, poetry, theater, novels, etc. Huge variety of different writings. With these, we learned what was happening at the time in these countries and how certain people were feeling. It was fascinating and surprising, coming from a western background myself. I really enjoyed this course.

I did not expect myself to enjoy this class that much (since I do not like history) but it was surprisingly enjoyable and the professor and all the teaching assistants were excellent. I learned a lot of new information that I found valuable and interesting.
