I learned about the history of the European Union and its structure. I learned about EU politics in different policy areas. In particular, I learned how national, intergovernmental, and supranational dynamics influence each of those policy areas. We discussed future developments of the EU (e.g. Is the EU likely to integrate further? How is the EU impacted by Euroscepticism? and more)

100% one of the best/most interesting/most engaging class I have taken at Columbia. Mostly because of the professor to be honest: he is very knowledgeable, assigns readings that are very pertinent, and makes class seminars very inclusive, has the most engaging presentations/lectures, but also balances lectures with discussion. Great teacher, listened to all the comments being done by students and adds his insights to them. Fair amount of work with a final paper conducted throughout the semester which saved me during my finals season. Learnt about EU integration in many different sectors: from the economic one, to foreign policy and environmental one. Highly recommend!
I cannot recommend this class enough, so long as it is with the same professor because I think he was the one who really made the class engaging
This is possibly the best class I've taken at Columbia thus far. Simone Paci is a GEM in every single way. He's funny, understanding and easygoing but also very helpful, well-informed. Truly an excellent seminar.
