I learned more about Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism, as well as how these religions play out in East Asian literature.

We read an array of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean texts. They were both philosophical and literary in nature. We emphasized understanding the central themes of each text to truly understand their key meanings.

I gained a better understanding of Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism. I also found the texts to be quite fun to read and very insightful. I learned a lot about the culture in anteint and pre modern East Asia.

So much, amazing course with a vast knowledge of East Asian literature

We learned about different East Asian philosophies including Confucian thought, Mencius thought, Daoism, Buddhism, and read many texts regarding these schools of thoughts, along with Chinese, Korean, and Japanese novels important to the country's cultural heritage.

I learned about the various religious, philosophical, and literary traditions in East Asia from the time when Confucius lived up until the Edo period, such as Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism, and how they apply in modern contexts.

I would only reccomend, for the sake of the disscussion aspects of the class, that you need to read them carfully and thoughtfully prior to class.
