I learned the history of Japanese Language as the class name says, also I acquired the skills how to read materials to look into the insights of contents what the general terms and specific problems of your focus. While working on reading assignments and class contests, the professor gave us the clues how to look your own research projects. It was great class.

History of comparative and variety linguistics with phonological and syntactic phenomena.

What I learned from this course was about how the Japanese language has developed throughout its history.

We learned the concepts and theories of historical linguistics, and analyzing historical and dialectal data.

It is good to do the specific examples of dialects and history of the language change of each topics.
