What students said

POLS UN1201 · Spring 2025

We learned about the American political system including the three branches of government and elections as well as political theory regarding a range of topics from politician incentives to voting.

POLS UN3720 · Fall 2024

I learned to code in R, which was vastly different than the course description explains. Do not be confused, this is an R class with a political science flavor. Had this been properly advertised I may have taken a different course to satisfy my quantitative requirement.

POLS UN1201 · Spring 2025

This course gave a great overview of American politics and providing relevant literature to understand current phenomena. This class includes several perspectives on how to view American politics and understand the ways in which voters and politicians make decisions. It also gives relevant information to weigh in on current debates about the evolution of the three branches of government and how they are changing throughout the 21st century.

POLS UN3720 · Fall 2024

This class is a good intro to R studio and to quantitative methods in general, but doesn't necessarily go over the basics. Be prepared to have to lean on outside resources if you are totally new to coding. That said, the professor and TAs were helpful ultimately.

POLS UN1201 · Spring 2025

I learned about American Politics and current events.

POLS UN3720 · Fall 2024

I learned about different research methods for political science, some coding in R, and basic tools for statistical analysis.

POLS UN1201 · Spring 2025

The history of American politics, and theories of political behavior

POLS UN3720 · Fall 2024

R coding skills and quant research theory for poli sci research, especially how to design your own research(sample collecting, hypothesis testing, survey questions design etc etc)

POLS UN1201 · Spring 2025

I learned the basics of American Politics. It was very broad about how the American government/politics works in this country.

POLS UN3720 · Fall 2024

I learned how to code in R. While this skill is somewhat useful, R is not used much in the real world so the this skill is pretty useless. - R
