How to study the world based on social interaction.

I did not really learn anything new. A lot of the readings and sociological studies just reiterated pretty commonly known societal issues or trends.

General overview of sociological topics and research methods.

Learned new thing about society, human social behavior, patterns of social relationships, social interaction, and aspects of culture associated with everyday life.

I learned nothing in this course. I really truly gained nothing. Because of the focus on in-class quizzes, I paid no attention to the readings or material content beyond trying to pass those. The evaluation methods in this class made little sense and actually deterred me from meaningfully engaging with material.

I learned about sociological perspectives on issues that impact those living inside and outside of societies.

I learned how to think sociologically about the world and how to make ethnographic field notes. I also learned a lot about how things are socially constructed.

I learned how to use my "sociological imagination" and write ethnographic field notes, while analyzing specific social situations and investigating larger cultural phenomenons.

Highly valuable class - learned to pay close attention to the things we consider "normative" or "subconscious". It strengthened my observational skills through the field notes and applying "thick observation".
