Leah Werier

4 assignments and minimal readings. Maybe a 4 page article once or twice throughout the whole semester. Just show up and write an essay, do one presentation, and a final project.

Professor Werier is one of the best Professors I've had at Columbia. She's the rare combination of a Professor who is very advanced and knowledgeable in the field, actually knows how to teach, and seems to genuinely enjoy doing it. If you have the choice, I'd say definitely try to take her class. She is very kind in the class setting and makes students feel very comfortable participating. She's very fair in grading. Her Art Hum class is for sure a highlight of my time at Columbia.

I was exposed to critical texts that I had not been before. I also learned a lot about navigating the professional world while maintaining certain ethical and political standards.

I had the privilege of taking Professor Leah's class in Berlin this summer, and oh my god, this is one of the best professors ever. She's such a sweet soul and knows so much information about art. I would highly recommend her class to anyone.

As a STEM student, if you can take her for Art-Hum, do it! She is Amazing, she puts an emphasis on class discussions, so participation is key. There are almost no readings, so it's pretty chill. Overall, a great professor making this class fun!
