A refreshed understanding of US foreign policy in the past thirty years through an economic and political lense.

A great overview of international relations from the 1990s to today. We studied various spheres (interventions, economics, business, law) which made it really complete and interesting. This course is a great way to build a stronger culture on that domain.

I learned about the limits of certainty in moments of crisis and the risks inherent to complicated, interdependent systems. I learned about the post-Cold War crises which shape the world we live in today. I

I learned about a few central ideas, such as unintended consequences and prudence, as ways of looking at the last 30 years in American foreign policy and national security strategy.

I learned lot about U.S. foreign policy - general themes in the field as well as more specific topics such as US involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan. Cold War and Post-Cold War themes as well. Multidisciplinary covered politics, economics, and security.

I learned how to conceive of a post-post-post Cold War world, and dare I say, Second Cold War world. In terms of knowledge, I learned how to give multiple presentations to a class even though the class was incredibly intimidating in terms of personal experience and wealth of knowledge on an individual level. I also learned how to structure an incredibly long research paper and how to space out my time with it rather than leaving it all to the last minute. I learned to conceive of the world in terms of subjectivity and how the American lens can be incredibly cloudy and how to step away from it when needed. I learned that history can be thought of as either cyclical in terms of the European view or progressive in terms of the American view, and it is up to the individual to make their final opinion and differentiate between the two.
