We were introduced to the QGIS software, as well as the GIS field in general. This included techniques and theory surrounding the use of GIS technologies.
I learned about different ways of representing spacial data and about ethics related to data.

I learned how to use the application qGIS, several different forms of geographical analysis, and how GIS can be used to investigate different types of ecological questions. I also learned what kinds of data can be used as inputs for GIS.
How to use QGIS, where to find spatial data for research purposes, how to best present spatial data in maps
I learned theory/concepts behind GIS like data representation, map aesthetics, possible biases in data, data manipulation tactics, etc. I also practiced those skills in QGIS.
