How to conduct my own independent research project and work as a freelance researcher in a field that fascinates me.

This is a senior thesis seminar. You're applying what you learned so far. It's a culmination of all you've done, not a class to learn stuff, other than doing a long research project.

I learned how to conduct linguistics research, present my ideas, and write a thesis.

I can only recommend it if you really like linguistics and see either a career path in it or value in doing a long academic research paper. It's not a reccommend/don't course.

I learned how to frame and begin a thesis project.

I learned methods of preparing a thesis, from preliminary literature review to narrowing in on a research topic.

While hard to "recommend," as it is required for the major, Thesis is a well conceived and executed course. I would recommend a linguistics thesis to anyone on the fence.
