How to write more cohesively and concisely, how to go about writing a clear background chapter, applying for funding, peer editing techniques, and how to design a poster.
I have enjoyed my time in Professor Shapiro's Senior Thesis Seminar class this semester. This course is allowing me to pursue library research on a topic that interests me and has challenged me to improve both my writing and research skills. I have also enjoyed working with the small thesis cohort as I am able to learn more about their individual topics. The writing sessions were helpful in learning how to edit my own work as well as provide feedback for peer edits. I realized that I need to avoid putter and pomposity in my writing. Examining the research posters and creating mock posters has been helpful in determining what I like or dislike for eventually creating my thesis presentation poster.

Succinct writing skills. Being concise and writing in a scientific manner.
We've learned a truly incredible amount about the process of writing a thesis, particularly the formation of a research question, the writing of funding proposals and background chapters, and how to make an effective poster.
During the Fall semester, we learned skills in scientific writing, poster presentation, and went over the steps of creating a senior thesis to map out our individual research plans.
Doing a thesis is a lot of work, but if you want to do one, absolutely do it.
