Research Seminar · Ecology, Evolution, And Environmental Biology
A variety of broad research topics, well beyond my scope of reserach!
Various aspects of scientific research being conducted
What people across the department are up to - many ecology/ forestry topics I wouldnt normally see otherwise.
I learned a lot about many different fields of ecology and biology, as well as what my fellow students are studying.
I learned a lot of different perspectives in ecology and conservation biology.
This course has guest speakers come and share their research with students. Topics vary within the field of E3B. There were also opportunities to converse with the speakers during the speaker lunches.
I found the research talks to be very interesting and informative. I learned a lot about evolutionary biology, which is not my area of expertise and I feel that the course broadened my horizons on areas of research.
Lectures in multiple specialist areas. For example, "Life Advice for Wasps: A Guide for the Discerning Social Insect", "An Unexpected Path in the Study of Elephant Cognition: Comparative Psychology for Conservation’s Sake", "Genetic and Environmental Determinants of Recombination in Coronaviruses", "Forest Physiological Ecology in a Changing World", and "How do Climate and Land Cover Determine Where Tropical Birds are Found?".
