I learned more in this class than in any other this semester. The textbook is very well done; the vocabulary is topical and the cultural/historical lessons are extremely useful.

Zhong Shi · 2024 · 2024

This course is called "Business Chinese," but I think the curriculum in reality has a much larger scope and I found it to be very practical. I think that other previous courses had much more of a written chinese emphasis, but Business Chinese is more about speaking, and appropriate conventions of speech in a variety of business and social contexts.

Zhong Shi · 2024 · 2024

I learned about the context of business in China - how it is conducted, the history and economics behind recent trends, and how to apply these skills in different contexts.

Zhong Shi · 2024 · 2024

I think this class is a great Chinese elective because it gives a different teaching approach from Chinese 1-3, with much more speaking emphasis. This is more practical for most students' needs anyways, and it is a good variety from other chinese courses that will push a student much more in the speaking proficiency aspects of their education.

Zhong Shi · Fall 2021 · 2024

It is a great opportunity to not only improve one's Mandarin skills within an important domain, but also to learn about business and economics in general. 1 Columbia University: Arts & Sciences Fall 2021 Course: CHNSGU4012_001_2021_3-BUSINESSCHINESEI : BUSINESS CHINESE I CHNSGU4012_001_2021_3- CHNSGU4012_001_2021_3 - BUSINESS CHINESE I Instructor: Zhong Shi
