I appreciated the practical aspects of how computational studies can be used in healthcare. Coming from a healthcare background, I appreciated the general approach to the class, and better understand work with machine learning, EHR, and large data analysis.
This course was primarily a survey course of different ideas and methods in biomedical informatics. It's hard to say what exactly I learned. I would instead say that I was exposed to different ideas. We didn't focus on anything long enough to actually learn it the way we would in another kind of class that was more focused.
This class gave a broad overview of biomedical informatics via 3 main subsets (bio-, clinical, and consumer health). Lectures were given by various faculty in the department and ranged from general informatics topics to past/current projects. It was helpful to hear from leaders in the field especially within the lens of research/clinical implementation and access to health data to create these informatics solutions.
I learned about a wide-ranging spectrum of research fields and topics in Biomedical Informatics through lectures from domain experts. I also gained an understanding of how to tie those different topics together into an interdiscplinary project proposal.
About the different segments of bioinformatics and there meanings and applications in industry and research
This was a good course on machine learning in the healthcare industry. It is basically an opportunity to hear about concepts and learn more about the research being conducted at Columbia.
I learned a lot in this class; it exposes you to quite literally everything that has to do with tech used in healthcare and medicine through guest lectures, which is really fascinating.
This course did a great job of showing all the different work that can be done in the field of Biomedical Informatics. Each talk was wonderful and taught us the methods and applications, along with scientific considerations, of the different sub-niches in the field.

Since the course gives insight to a variety of different research fields without too much demand workload-wise, it is an excellent means to get cutting-edge research insights about a variety of topics in Biomedical Informatics.
